  • Jennifer falls for the charm of Latif as she serves coffee in her wonderful kitchen. Justin wonders how Lilian is taking Miranda’s directives, but is assured that Lilian is enjoying her role. Justin asks what the correct title of the Millennium wood is: Aldridge or Ambridge? Jennifer is quick to choose the former – so many people wanted to call it that. Brian begs to differ, sotto voce.
  • The Aldridges have an unexpected and almost unrecognisable visitor; it’s Lynda, wearing sunglasses and a huge hat. She has an appointment with Kate, who seems to have gone missing, so when the male contingent go off to view the Aldridge acres, Jennifer is left to make conversation with Lynda as they await Kate’s return.
  • Fallon is full of enthusiasm for her jumble trail, and amused by the idea that she and Jolene are rivals for the Food and Drink awards. Jolene is worried that Kenton is still jealous of Wayne, who is proving a great success as chef at The Bull. Fallon has a solution; tell Kenton that Wayne has a girlfriend.
  • Latif is very interested in the tour of Home Farm, and wants to talk to Adam, a suggestion which does not altogether meet with Brian’s approval. Adam says all the right things, however, and Latif is impressed. Yes, says Brian cryptically, he doesn’t let you down when the pressure is on.
  • Lynda is forced to explain the treason for her visit; an allergic reaction has caused her skin to redden and swell, and she thinks Kate could help. Lynda is aghast at the thought that the cause could be Silver Birch; if she had to fell her trees not only would it scar the Resurgam garden, it would take away its whole integrity. Jennifer manages to divert Lynda with talk of Helen’s hearing today, and the effect of the case on the whole family. Lynda is very sympathetic; it certainly puts her troubles in the shade.
