Phil is accommodating.
Radio Times: Phil is accommodating.
Characters: Alistair, David, Janet, Phil, Ruth, Shula- Brookfield’s rotten streak continues – a small heffer developed a problem in calving over night. By the time Ruth found her, the calf and died and the mother was in bad shape. Alistair’s presence failed to save her, though. David’s observation that this meant an increase in the amount of quota they were able to lease (from 100,000 to 105,000 litres (over some period) – still only likely to be worth about £7,000 – a fraction of the milk’s value) didn’t make Ruth any happier. She’s sure that Phil blames her for that too – a thought that deep down she says that she agrees with.
- Shula and Alistair discuss the wedding service and the matter of witnesses. She’d like Caroline and Alistair sees that his first choice of Robin might not be the best idea, settling for his back-up option of asking David.
- Phil and Janet chat after church as Janet agrees that Shula and Alistair not having a church wedding is understandable, if disappointing. Phil promises to raise the subject of a blessing with them later. Which he does and they both seem keen – so a Christmas Eve blessing, followed by a small reception at Brookfield seems the plan (Phil is sure that Jill will agree to do the catering ….)
