Pip admits to Elizabeth that she is definitely pregnant and is going to have an abortion.
Radio Times: Life in Ambridge
Characters: DI Thorpe, Eddie, Elizabeth, Harrison, Justin, Pip- Harrison and his boss turn up at the Dower House. Justin isn’t impressed but they insist they are only there to bring him up to date. They tell him that they are no longer following up any inquiries about Matt’s accident in relation to him. Justin is less than impressed.
- Elizabeth is helping out at the skating rink when Edddie tells her that her chef is taking on more turkeys. Ed is surprised she is helping out but the children are elsewhere. Elizabeth remembers how much Nigel enjoyed it. Eddie tries to tries to sell her something else but she gets distracted.
- Pip tells Elizabeth that she is definitely pregnant and it is definitely Toby’s. She has no intention of telling her parents. Elizabeth is the only person she can talk to. She is hardly sleeping. Toby was very good about taking precautions but she can’t tell him. She isn’t the first person to be let down by contraception (well certainly not in Ambridge where not a single woman has ever managed to be careful). But Pip can’t think about anything else. She has never really thought about having kids – maybe in the future but not now. Elizabeth says she was only a year older. It isn’t selfish to think about her own life. Elizabeth stresses that she will support her whatever she chooses. So Pip admits she is going to have an abortion.
- Harrison and Thorpe drive back into Borchester. They agree that they both don’t like Justin but there is no way there is any evidence. Harrison is convinced it is Justin but DI Thorpe tells him to let it go. This is way beyond Ambridge now. The Hugo Melling scheme is way beyond small time stuff. The focus has to be beyond Justin. Sometimes you just have to let the small fry get away.
