  • Pip shows David a cow that is limping badly. Together they look at its foot, and of course she was completely right in her assessment of the situation. She announces that has had a brainwave – sow turnips and graze someone else’s sheep on them; they will get paid for the crop and get free manure to enrich the land. It will go towards repaying the money they had to pay Matthew.
  • As they wait for Brian to finish a phone call, Jennifer and Adam discuss the pickers’ farewell supper and the ins and outs of their various relationships. For Adam the best part of the evening was going home to the newly restored Honeysuckle Cottage. When Brian appears, having been telling Rob about local builders, he is not in a very receptive frame of mind when Adam outlines his 10 year cropping plan for the farm. Jennifer does her best to back Adam, but Brian only resorts to sarcasm. Adam’s herbal leys will be the ruin of Home Farm.
  • A nervous David finds Jolene outside The Bull. When he tells her that the family will lend them the £26k they need, she dissolves in tears and outpourings of gratitude. David says he wants to put right what he got wrong. Even gratitude fails to prevent a sharp ‘Yes, you did’ from the happy recipient. But she will choose her moment and judge Kenton’s mood before telling him.
