Pip’s life is in disarray; the birth of Helen’s baby is happening.
Radio Times: Anna presses Helen for information and Toby launches a new venture.
Characters: Anna, Bert, Helen, Pip, Ruth, Toby- Pip’s helping Ruth with the morning milking. Good news, Matthew’s coming down after work, but for now, she’s helping Toby out with a new venture. Later she finds Toby spying on Bert and his garden with his new drone. Toby reckons that it’s the start of Ambridge Arial Films. As Pip is playing the farmer, she’s taken extra care with her appearance. They watch the replay footage.
- Anna is visiting Helen who is concerned about how long they will wait before considering inducing the baby. Helen complains about her feeling of lack of control. She laughs. Though Ursula wanted a home birth, Helen was sure that she hadn’t considered the possibility of a prison birth. Anna gently asked about Rob’s thoughts on the matter. Helen ignores the question commenting about how pleasant it is in the garden.
- With some of the filming done, the second replay reveals a glamorous Pip reaching into the hen house with varnished nails. Toby reveals his plan to fly the drone over Godwin’s poultry farm, to get images of a more industrial outfit. Pip knows both Alex and his father and there’s no way she will countenance such a thing, without their permission. Bert agrees. “No permission … no me” she insists. Her phone rings. It’s Matthew.
- Anna and Helen watch a child trying to walk in the garden with her mother. Apparently some stay until they’re 18 months before removal from their mother. Helens glad she’s having a boy, it will be easier to give him away. Anna gently enquires about Ursula and Rob’s ideas for the birth. She reminds her that they really need to talk. Helen admits to changing their plans. Anna asks about their reaction. There’s no reply. She mentions Kirsty and the help line. Helen becomes annoyed. Anna stops and goes to arrange tea.
- Pip returns to Brookfield and finds Ruth. She complains bitterly about Toby’s lack of feeling for others and total belief in himself. Ruth sees that her daughter has been crying. What has Toby said or done? Pip spills the beans. It’s not him, but Matthew. He won’t be coming down this weekend, or any other. In short, he’s dumped her.
- Anna presses on with her conversation and gentle questioning. Helen admits to Kirsty being a good friend, as well as Emma, Fallon and Ian of course. Rob didn’t care for Kirsty or Ian and forbade her to see them. But she carried on until she was found out. Rob wasn’t happy and he … “talked to me,” as always. Anna asks if she called the helpline on Kirsty’s phone. Helen shouts that she can’t talk now. No … really. She can’t. Her waters have broken. They both call for help.
