Pip triumphs at the Show but David still has doubts about a place for her at Brookfield.
Radio Times: Pip starts networking, while Ed and Emma have second thoughts.
Characters: David, Ed, Eddie, Emma, Oliver, Pip- With a bit of help from Eddie, Pip is taking her three lambs to the Borchester Show. David will be there later with his NFU hat on.
- Ed and Emma are also off to the show, courtesy of Oliver who is has nearly finished the morning milking.
- Pip’s efforts are rewarded when the lambs win their class; she will stay with them for a while in case they generate any sales enquiries. Later Pip wants to discuss figures with a farm management company and then scrounge lunch from Dad.
- Who to ask to be godmother? That is the pressing question for Emma. Ed suggests Alice; she is family – if she hasn’t done a runner. Now that’s a remark Ed has to explain, though he swears Emma to secrecy before telling her about the amorous attentions of loan shark Chas; Chris seemed glad to unburden himself to Ed – after a couple of pints – but reckons their marriage is still solid.
- David is having a terrific day too. He is not surprised to hear that the analysis of Pip’s figures shows that they need to be getting better prices. On the dairy side, that could mean a direct supply contract with a supermarket – something to talk about. Spencer is at the Show too but not his parents, lest they meet people who know about Steve.
- Ed and Emma have the idea that they will, after all, build a scarecrow for George; it had better be good – little do they know that Will and Nic are on the same game. Back at Grange Farm, Ed finds that Oliver has enjoyed himself and is keen to help further by doing the milking two afternoons a week – and he doesn’t want paying.
