Ray has some ideas for Grey Gables and loses no time in trying them out.
Radio Times: Ray starts as he means to go on, and Fallon fulfils a difficult task.
Characters: Fallon, Ian, Jolene, Lynda, Ray- Living on the job is a valuable way to get the lie of the land and meet the guests; so Ray has moved in to Grey Gables for the duration of his duty as manager. Lynda is keen to brief him on today’s bookings but Ray needs an espresso first – double shot – which Lynda undertakes to get for him.
- Fallon has a wedding checklist: the dress is safely secreted in Fallon’s flat, flowers – Jolene has some ideas, bridesmaids’ dresses; therein lies a problem: are they really going to have purple dresses? Jolene doesn’t want to upset Meriel but purple doesn’t suit anybody else; she agrees to phone Meriel herself – certainly not leave it to Kenton. When she does, she finds that they worried for nothing: Meriel was fine with ditching purple; she had gone off it anyway.
- In the kitchen, Ian has everything under control – or so he thinks; Ray wants a word with Lynda and Ian about an idea he has had. It won’t take a jiffy. He has one teeny criticism – a lack of atmosphere, a little too quiet and, perish the thought, dull. His answer is an informal, totally spontaneous cocktail party. Ian just has to knock up some appropriate nibbles, by Wednesday. Meanwhile Ray will continue to seek other ways to give the place ‘a sparkle’.
