Rob’s place in the cricket team is assured. It would seem that his place in the Archer family is too.

Characters: Adam, Charlie, Helen, Henry, Johnny, Rob, Tom- Rob receives a father’s day card from Henry during an al fresco breakfast. Helen plans to give Tony his when he returns home from holiday tomorrow. She also wants her parents and Tom to be the first to hear the news of the grant of Rob’s decree absolute. They’ll be so excited!
- Johnny tells Tom of his visit to Leeds, he took Eamonn out for a meal and he seemed really pleased of his stepson’s achievements at Bridge Farm. Tom suggests inviting him and Sharon to stay. However, there’s much work to be done before Tony’s return, especially in view of the afternoon’s cricket match with Waterley Cross.
- Adam meets Charlie at the cricket club. Ian couldn’t make it because of work commitments. Rob turns up with Helen and Henry, Charlie makes his excuses and leaves. Helen and Adam discuss an emotionally bruised Kate. Adam’s sure that she’s plotting something with Lilian.
- The match has its ups and downs. Tom’s out with the score at 38 for 3. Rob saunters on at number 5, confident of his own abilities. Adam isn’t. However, he scores 87 with Adam conjuring up a very useful Captain’s century. Johnny is put on to bowl but doesn’t shine. Adam puts Rob in, he takes 5 wickets, scoops “man of the match” and Ambridge win by 50 runs. Charlie sympathises with Adam… and gives him a present for his birthday tomorrow. Adam is taken aback.
- At home, Helen congratulates Rob on his cricketing performance but thoughts soon turn to plans for their wedding. Helen is so looking forward to telling her parents when they return and seeing the looks on their faces. Well… yes!
