  • The HSE inspector calls at Bridge Farm to question those who witnessed the accident. He is, at times, quite aggressive, and Helen becomes upset. Pat is present when he questions Johnny, but is put firmly in her place when she tries to speak for her grandson. Before the inspector can question her, Pat has a call from the hospital asking her to come at once. Tony’s condition has deteriorated following surgery on his leg.
  • At The Bull Fallon insists on giving Ed a drink on the house. He is a local hero now. Fallon is pleased that she and Emma have lots of bookings for Christmas market stalls. She seems to have no time to look for vintage furniture at present.
  • Lynda is determined to find out how Justin Elliott has managed to exert influence over the Local Enterprise Partnership. Ed thinks she is wasting her time; the decision about the road has been made and nothing will stop it. Lynda is not happy with the way Blithe Spirit is going, though. Fallon manages to avoid a frank discussion with Lynda by telling Ed she has just got a booking to organise a major event in Borchester.
  • Rob pulls leeks and looks through Tony’s paperwork, fulsome in his praise for the way Tony runs the farm. With many ‘darlings’ he does his best to reassure Helen, then announces that he intends to make some changes to the way the farm is run – with Tony’s best interests at heart, of course. And maybe the time has come for Henry to go back to nursery… darling.
  • Pat returns with the news that there has been some improvement in Tony’s condition. She has been trying to contact Tom, but he is not replying to messages. As Pat goes to find Johnny, Helen wonders how much more pain her family can take. Rob comments that compared to his dysfunctional family, hers are like the Waltons. He wants to take Helen hunting on Thursday to get away from it all. Helen refuses, but Rob will not take no for an answer.
