  • On their afternoon off, Roy and Lexi walk round the village, where Roy enjoys showing her the places of his childhood. Both are pleased to be in the other’s company, though both find it awkward to tell the other. They are, however, able to laugh at the mix-up over Constantin, and Roy expresses his thanks for Lexi having taken Phoebe under her wing.
  • As Will shows Brian over the shoot they encounter Roy and Lexi and Brian is not altogether pleasant towards them. Luckily the talk turns to cricket, and Lexi is able to say how boring she finds it. Roy and Lexi get away as soon as they can, leaving Will and Brian to discuss road kill deer, game pie and other allied matters.
  • Adam tells Brian that he has decided to take Johnny on. Needless to say, Brian puts up various arguments, but Adam stands his ground. At least we will only have to pay him apprentice wages, counters Brian.
  • Roy is unwilling to take Lexi to The Bull, which, as ever, sounds to be playing host to hundreds on a September afternoon. Is it because you don’t want to spend time with me, asks Lexi? No, replies Roy; it’s because I do want to spend time with you. Since both Phoebe and Kirsty are out, the couple repair to Roy’s house. We can talk about cricket there, declares Lexi.
  • Adam picks Ian up from work and astounds him by saying he has managed to fix a meeting with Social Services to investigate adoption. he has done it because he could not bear to lose Ian. Ian is overwhelmed, This could be the start of something wonderful.
