Ruth and David have an outbreak of IBR. Lilian flees The Bull when Justin goes down on one knee.

Radio Times: Brookfield gets some bad news, while there’s a sight to behold in The Bull.

  • Ruth tells David she is worried about the cows. Some of them aren’t looking well. She thinks it might be IBR (Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis to save you googling) which might explain the poor yield. They ring Alistair straight away. While he is looking at the cows, Alistair says he is missing Anisha. He needs her to get new business. He does, however, agree that it is probably IBR. They can’t work out how it could have happened. Their cows haven’t been in contact with anything. (Obviously it is Josh bringing in the infection from his and Toby’s farm visits but this will be dragged out for some weeks….). David and Ruth will have to get the drugs to vaccinate the rest of the cows. Speed is of the essence.
  • Jim and Robert meet up. They both agree, rather aggressively, that they are both still doing tours. Robert’s guests said they would rather have visited the Spoon Museum. Both of them agreed that the guests weren’t real birders. They just weren’t tuned into the world of birds. They finally make up. But rather grudgingly.
  • Justin and Lilian meet for a rather awkward drink at The Bull. They start by talking about Josh trying to set up in business in the Grey Gables lounge. Justin has some sympathy. And Eddie is trying to cadge work from Amside. After the small talk, Justin asks what is wrong. She explains she was totally thrown by his reference to their honeymoon. He says but surely his entry into a complicated divorce was a sign of his commitment. He thought she felt it the same way. Lilian says but he had never said he loved her but much to Lilian’s discomfiture he gets down one knee and proposes. As Lilian runs out saying sorry, Jim and Robert comment that that didn’t go according to plan.
  • Ruth and David are considering the cost of the outbreak – £2k just for the vaccine and Alistair says they should expect to lose some, and then one of the calves turns out to be dead. It is going to be a long weekend.
