  • It won’t take a sec; whatever is taking up Ruth’s attention is worth holding up the assembled Archers as they prepare to go out for their celebration meal.
  • Charlie is in The Bull but rather subdued, so welcomes Adam’s arrival. He seems disappointed that the Grundys will not have left Grey Gables by the time Justin and party arrive: he needs to keep Justin sweet or he might be out of job and home too. Adam announces that he and Ian have set a date for their wedding; Charlie’s reaction is curtailed by a call from Justin. Adam then books a meal at The Bull for after the ceremony.
  • Harrison is also in the pub and pleased to see the village buzzing. Even Bert, who has lost more than most, has managed to keep going and move on. They will plant Freda’s rose soon.
  • Praise is heaped upon Pip by her proud parents. They have had lots of difficulties recently but Pip has been amazing; her commitment has shone through. To Pip!
  • Back at Brookfield, Ruth has a revelation: knowing that David and Pip can cope without her, she has decided to go away to have some time on her own; she needs to clear her head. She is going to take a break. She has decided to go to New Zealand.
