Ruth has better news. Henry has wonderful(?) news.

Radio Times: Henry receives a surprising gift, and Jennifer feels frustrated.

Characters: , , , , , , ,
  • Ruth is delighted to be home, and hears what a star Pip has been in her absence. David broaches the subject of a contract milker, which horrifies Ruth; how could a stranger look after her cows? But she sees sense, and agrees to do the interviewing, despite the fact that she will have to spend months more at Prudhoe.
  • Jennifer calls at Bridge Farm with the customary hand-delivered birthday card for Johnny, and is pleased to see Tony so relaxed and happy. He is enjoying looking after Henry, though Rob and Helen are due back later. Jenny tells Tony about Brian’s decision regarding Adam, and says she wouldn’t blame Adam if he upped and offed. Tony thinks the herbal leys are an excellent idea. They are interrupted by the arrival of Rob and Helen, who seem totally loved-up; Helen is cooing about how romantic the Isle of Wight is, but delighted to see Henry again. They refuse tea, to Tony’s sorrow, because they need to get Henry back home.
  • Know-all Pip soon has the job description for the milker sorted out, and a chat on the phone to Heather makes Ruth realise she could stay a bit longer. She is worried that she has left Pip to cope at Brookfield, but is soon assured that Pip is fine, if a little anxious about her exam results.
  • Lucky Henry has not one, but two presents; a sailing boat and the news that Rob and Helen have got married (though quite how marriage law has been circumvented is unclear.) Lucky Henry now has a new daddy. Won’t Pat and Tony be pleased.
