• Brian’s complained to Phil about Bert’s speed and David’s not happy at the subsequent ultimatum that it’s him or (perhaps) no contract.
• Roy’s been reading up on baby issues in the university library and is bitter that he can’t learn at first hand. He’s gladdened by Hayley’s news that Debbie might be swinging Kate away from using the court.
• Jet, the Brookfield sheepdog, is forever running off to Bridge Farm to visit Eric!
• Jill mentions the mysterious discoveries of bits of pie throughout the church, Janet feels guilty and Shula’s distinctly amused!
• David’s birthday starts with tea from Pip, two identical presents from Shula and Alistair and a barbecue at the Bull. He’s mulling over a suggestion from Darrington Cricket Club that they and Ambridge should merge. Alistair’s got other distractions, while’s he’s being civil to Shula, she’s pushing a little hard, as he declines an invitation for tea.
