Shula tries to push David. Pat tries to push Helen. Rob quietly pushes Helen.
Radio Times: Helen is torn. Meanwhile, David feels the strain.
Characters: David, Helen, Jill, Pat, Pip, Rob, Shula- As the family returns from their trip to see the new farm, Jill is standing by with tea, cake, and an offer to do Pip’s washing. She listens without enthusiasm as Pip expounds on the robotic milker and David talks of starting work on the grazing and alteration of buildings by March. They hope to move in June.
- Pat calls on Helen, and gets straight to the point; the shop. Tina is not managing it as she should and takings are down. It needs Helen’s management flair, apparently. Pat pushes Helen to agree to doing some hours in the shop, but Helen is reluctant; she is so busy looking after Rob and Henry.
- |The Brookfield Dairy milk bottle seems to be a source of wonder. Jill has even managed to clean it up. Soon it will feature on Jennifer’s website. But Shula has other things on her mind as she calls to see David; when can she expect her share of the proceeds of the sale, as she plans to install an equine pool. David, with masterly hypocrisy, given that he has just placed an order for the robotic milker, urges her not to commit her money at this stage.
- Pat will not take no for an answer. Surely Helen could do just a few hours in the shop. Then Rob arrives, and while polite, does not appear overwhelmed to see Pat in his house. He claims there is no need to supervise Tina; he has already had words with her. After Pat leaves, he says of course Helen should go back to work if that is what she really wants – but she is such a perfectionist it would take over her life -there would be no more lovely lunches together and no hunting -she would end up stressed and feeling guilty. Yet again, Helen is totally won over by Rob’s apparent concern for her. Thank you, Rob, she coos, you know me so well.
