Susan gives Rob the low-down on Ambridge. Vicky and Mike head for the hospital.

Radio Times: Rob receives the third degree and there is a development at Willow Cottage.

Characters: Brian, Jennifer, Mike, Rob, Susan, Vicky

• Preparing to entertain the new herd manager, Rob, Jennifer calls at the shop for supplies. Susan informs her that she has already met him.
• A bored Vicky comes to the shop but forgets what she has come for. This does at least give Susan a chance to impart some gossip and to boast that she knows more about Rob than Jennifer does.
• Lilian has lost no time in preparing for another weekend away. She rings Jennifer to ask her to take Peggy to The Laurels. Brian, reasonably, wonders why James is not able to take a taxi.
• To Susan’s delight, Rob calls at the shop looking for a present to take to Jennifer. After grilling Rob, Susan is able to give him the lowdown on the village, and to tell him that she is related to the Aldridges. Polite questioning from Rob forces Susan to reveal that she is a Horrobin, and this does not go down well with one who aspires to Aldridgedom. Over supper, Brian explains further the intricacies of Ambridge relationships.
• Vicky goes into labour, and a panic-stricken Mike takes her to the hospital. Their baby is on its way.
