Susan is not pleased to hear about the plans for the Bridge Farm shop.
Radio Times: Susan feels betrayed, and Carol senses unhappiness.
Characters: Carol, Charlie, Helen, Henry, Jill, Pat, Rob, Susan- Ambridge have to chase a score of 312 by Darrington. Tony is umpiring and Alistair has decided that Rob and Adam are opening. Rob is not receptive to Charlie’s advice to be sensible and stay calm because his sledging of the Darrington players is raising the temperature. Rob makes a thinly veiled comment about why Adam invited Charlie to join the team; what right has Charlie got to tell Rob what to do? Predictably, Rob is goaded into a rash stroke and is caught out.
- As Jill explains to Carol, David is right: Heather’s needs are greater. She herself has so many options. For all her brave talk, Jill dissolves in tears. This calls for Carol’s special Hawthorn berry tea. She needs to think of the last year as a bonus, although now it is all suddenly being snatched away.
- Tom has arranged a meeting with the shop designer on Tuesday, but Helen will be busy: no matter, Rob has offered to stand in. Pat probes the reasons for Rob leaving Berrow Farm but gets nowhere. Susan seeks news of Peggy’s approach to Hazel Woolley and is disappointed to hear that it fell on stony ground.
- Rob is in a foul mood after Ambridge lost by 15 runs, claiming to Helen that Darrington’s sledging went too far and put him off. He is sick of it being down to him all the time.
- Thinking it would help, Pat explains to Susan that all may not be lost regarding a shop in Ambridge. Wrong! Susan is incensed: she accuses Pat of taking advantage of the village shop, the flood and their friendship. This is nothing but treachery.
