The morning after the night before, and there is a stag-do to arrange

Radio Times: Lily seeks advice from an enemy and Brian receives an unexpected offer

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Over breakfast, Elizabeth and Lily discuss last night’s party. Pip didn’t turn up, perhaps she forgot. It appears that Freddie was a brilliant DJ. Elizabeth is on her way to see Ian to discuss the wedding menu. Due to the late notice, they may have to make some changes. After Elizabeth leaves, Lily phones someone and says that she needs to talk to them about last night.
  • Justin has come to see Brian. As the booking at the doggie hotel had been cancelled, he asks if Brian could look after Ruby while he and Lilian are away on honeymoon. Brian would be more than happy to have Ruby, but he says that Jennifer would not be happy. According to her, dogs are working animals. Brian is also invited to Justin’s stag party, as is Adam. Just a few drams of single malt and poker is in store.
  • Lily thinks that Freddie wasn’t just drunk, but that he took some pills or something at the party. Noluthando innocently asks her where he got them. Lily thinks that Ellis and his friends supplied them. Nolunthandu says that pills are not a big deal. Freddie wanders in and gets an earful from Lily about taking the pill. He only took one because Lily took the rest from him and flushed them away. She berates him for being so irresponsible but he doesn’t seem to care.
  • Brian has been approached by the editor of the business section of the Borchester Echo. They want to nominate Brian for Borchester Business Person of the Year. It would mean the paper doing a big feature on Brian and following him for the next year so the readers can get a in-depth sense of how a large scale farming operation is managed. Brian seems reluctant towards the press, after having his picture printed in the summer, dressed as a town crier at the village fête but Justin encourages him.
  • Elizabeth is at Rickyard, talking with Pip about how she can tell her parents and Jill about the baby.
  • Freddie want to be a DJ, following his success at the party. He won’t be going back to college after Christmas, because DJs don’t need GCSEs or A Levels. Noluthando is on his side, but Lily tells him not to be so stupid.
