The new shop is taking shape and things are looking worse for the Grundys finding a home.
Radio Times: Clarrie could do with a bit of luck, and Helen is at home in the office.
Characters: Clarrie, Eddie, Neil, Pat, Rob- Pat and Neil congratulate themselves about the shop coming together. They are very complimentary about Rob’s supervision. They chat about Lynda’s production of Calendar Girls and lament that it is not the right time for Helen to take part. At least Neil is filling a role – to keep Lynda quiet, he claims. Rob comes in and claims not to have seen Helen when Pat asks where she is.
- Eddie and Clarrie are in the midst of the turkeys. Eddie can’t find anything since they don’t have their own place. Bill Oldfield’s place is three times what they can afford and Joe has taken to his bed in disappointment. Clarrie is determined to look on-line and in the papers. Eddie encourages her to drop in on Emma since it is her afternoon off. Let’s hope it is our lucky day, trills Clarrie as she sets off.
- Rob and Neil work together and discuss Rob’s connection with Henry, legally and emotionally. Helen pops in and says that Rob’s parents have sent a card and wish to meet them soon. Rob is noncommittal. Helen has found a gluten-free supplier and Pat discusses other providers. Pat is surprised that Helen doesn’t want to get off home but Helen is happy to stay and finish her work. Pat worries that the chair is too uncomfortable but Helen repeats that all is well. Does she want a girl or a boy, asks Pat? Helen won’t say but it seems as if she thinks a girl would be lovely. Pat asks about the new job for Rob. He is negative about the salary but Pat is encouraging. Rob doesn’t want Helen to stay on but Helen demurs. Pat sides with Rob and tells Helen to have a nice family evening at home.
- Clarrie breaks it to Eddie that Kathy wants them out of Grey Gables before Christmas. That is the busiest time and Kathy needs the rooms. How are they going to break it to Joe, wails Clarrie.
