  • Ed asks Neil for news of Chris. Neil finds the best way to cope is to keep busy, and he is trying to get in touch with all Chris’ clients. He intends to ring Ronnie to see if he can help out, but has no idea where Chris keeps his diary. Ed thinks it could be on his laptop at the stables.
  • Brian rings a distraught Alice, who is unable to sleep and has still not managed to get a flight home. Alice wants Jennifer to stay at the hospital until she can get home.
  • Unusually sensitive, Jennifer does her best to calm Susan down and to offer coffee and sandwiches. Poor Susan is at the point of collapse, especially when they learn that Chris has a ruptured bowel and his oxygen levels have dropped.
  • Ed feels they should leave selling the tractor until there is better news of Chris, but Mike thinks he should go ahead. Ed then produces his laptop with his projections for the next year. At first Mike is unwilling discuss the matter of milk prices, but Ed’s quiet persistence pays off and Mike reluctantly offers him 1p a litre more, which he will pass on to the customers by increasing his milk by 1p a pint. Ed insists the extra Mike receives must be used for a marketing campaign. Gloomy Mike still thinks they will lose customers, but Ed stands firm and they shake on the deal.
  • Brian rings Alice to tell her the latest news. At least she now has a return flight to Birmingham, but it will be via Seattle and Amsterdam. She has been praying that Chris will be safe.
