The truths come out about Kate’s marriage to Lucas and Lilian’s relationship with Matt.
Radio Times: Jennifer bites the bullet, while Pat and Tom are alarmed.
Characters: Brian, Jennifer, Kate, Lilian, Pat, Tom- Her sister needs comfort, so Jennifer has invited Lilian over; in Brian’s words, she plans to give her the third degree about Matt’s absence. Jennifer is also worried about Phoebe being quiet and withdrawn – and why hasn’t Kate spoken to Lucas, not even once?
- The veg order for the shop is rather small. Business is not as good as when Helen was in charge. It’s a worry that Pat doesn’t need: Tony will be home soon, full of plans that are not realistic; he will have trouble even getting upstairs. Tom reassures her that he will take care of the farm.
- Might Phoebe like to talk to Hayley? Kate claims not have stood in their way but she could make that clearer. So Kate will offer to drive Phoebe to Birmingham. She also plans to move into her holiday cottage with Phoebe, so as to work on the trust between mother and daughter. Jennifer prevails on their own trust and Kate is forced to admit that her marriage is over, though she is economical with the truth about why, and accuses Lucas’ parents of turning the children against her.
- Later, Brian is canny enough to suggest that it may be more complicated: there are two sides and they have heard only Kate’s.
- Oh dear, while Tom and Pat were delivering to the shop there were only two customers. The small order was down to Rob, who had over-ridden Helen’s order pattern – not his call! They can’t let things slide. Would Helen go back?
- Lilian tries to fend off Jennifer’s questions but resistance is futile; she confesses the situation and sobs that she is alone now and always will be, without her Tiger.
