Toby admits he has been in Brighton with an ex who is a drug addict. Rob turns up at Henry’s school.

• Justin and Lilian are celebrating being together again. Two whole days to look forward to. Miranda seems to have calmed down and is more interested in her spiritual awareness. Just a pity it isn’t for longer. But they are making the most of the time….. But then Miranda suddenly turns up and in the manner of a French farce, Lilian makes her exit.
• Jennifer tells Helen how pleased she is for Kirsty but Helen says she should leave it a bit before visiting. Kirsty is keen to keep it low key. Jennifer is impressed by the exotic fruits display. Helen says New Year is time for trying new things. Jennifer says Helen will be having a great new year with Rob gone but Helen says she’d rather not think about it.
• Pip is in the cottage when Toby turns up. He tries to talk to her but she tries to throw him out. Toby finally promises no more lies. She doesn’t know why she should believe him but she lets him speak. He admits that the story he told at Christmas wasn’t true. He has been seeing his ex, Stella. All of them were doing drugs but she was on hard drugs and he blames himself for messing her around. After they broke up she went back on heroin and overdosed. Pip doesn’t know why that has anything to do with them. But Toby says he felt responsible and over Christmas he heard she was sleeping rough. So he went down to try to help. Then on Sunday he heard she had overdosed again. He has left her now because she has friends and her sister with her. His life is with Pip now. Pip asks why he didn’t tell her before. He said it was easier to lie and he isn’t proud of what he’s done. He asks her if she can’t forgive him, at least he should understand. Pip forgives him.
• Jennifer discovers Lilian in the kitchen in her fur coat and wellington boots and is slightly quizzical. Justin calls and she tells him she is safely back home.
• Rob turns up at Henry’s school. He has obviously been doing it for a while. He tells Henry it will have to be the last time. Henry wonders why he is growing a beard. He asks Henry to remember the secret they have planned for Mummy. Henry says yes and Rob says it will have to be soon and then after that he (Rob) will have to go away for a while. Rob tells Henry that he must keep the secret or it will spoil the surprise for Mummy but that whatever happens, Henry must remember that he loves him very much.
