Toby says he will support Pip whatever she chooses. Lilian finally admits to Peggy that the wedding is off.

Radio Times: Lilian finally faces the truth and Toby is forced to grow up

Characters: Elizabeth, Justin, Lilian, Peggy, Pip, Toby

• Lilian has to go to the Dower House and visits Justin. It was about time they took stock. Justin agrees. It is getting awkward. He told them she had a bad cold at Ian’s launch. There were mentions of the wedding, they can’t keep on putting it off for ever. But then Ruby calls out – Justin admits she has been very ill. She might need more investigation at the vet. They are both concerned about her. They try to talk about how they are messing people about and Justin says it is time to face the facts and move on. Then he has to take a call from Latif.
• Pip visits Toby stripping the feather from the geese. Toby wants to witter on about them but Pip boldly announces she is pregnant. They talk about it and both seem to agree that they would both want kids but now isn’t the time. Toby says he’ll back her 100%.
• Lilian does take Peggy to the village light ups. Elizabeth turns up and wants to talk about the wedding but Lilian tells her it isn’t the right time. But while she agrees, Elizabeth pushes on with talks about the arrangements. Elizabeth mentions that Lilian has been ill which rather confuses Peggy. They have a chat and Peggy is really cheered up by it. Lilian agrees Chris must be in a difficult place. They have a heart to heart about how bad Lilian’s choice in men has been. She’s made a dreadful mess of thing. But Peggy says they all love her and she makes them laugh. They even agree about Lynda Snell. Peggy still believes they are getting married and Lilian has to tell her the wedding is off.
• Elizabeth and Pip have a chat. Pip is determined to go ahead next Friday. They enjoy the village light up. It makes Pip say it will be the hardest thing she’s ever done in her life.
