Tom fails to achieve centre stage position and Matt fails to embarrass Justin and Lilian, but both of them fail
Radio Times: Tom is keen to attract attention
Characters: Helen, Justin, Lilian, Matt, Shula, Tom- Shula meets Justin and Lilian out for a ride. She admits to being unable to focus since Caroline’s death, and is anxious about the memorial service in case she lets Caroline down. But the good news is that Anisha and Alistair have checked Ruby out and all is well with her. She is ready to come home, if Alistair’s veterinary nurse will part with her.
- As Tom and Helen set up the bridge Farm stall for the Food and Drink awards, another squabble breaks out because Tom wants to include promotional literature for his fermented foods. Matt passes by and rejects Tom’s offer of a sample. he also rejects an entry into the competition for a Bridge Farm hamper; he has no wish for his personal details to be on Tom’s mailing list.
- Having successfully annoyed Tom, Matt turns his attention to Shula, asking whether she is a Nimby or an Imby. Shula goes to buy some Borsetshire Blue to get away from matt, but he has not finished; why don’t she and Alistair come to his investment day?
- With Ruby safely home, Justin and Lilian make a fuss of her. Lilian thinks matt has totally failed in his bid to drive a wedge between them. Justin agrees, and announces that he has yet another present or Lilian – tickets for a revival of Hair!
- A call from Pat to say that Jack has a temperature sends Helen home, leaving Tom to man the stall. When her cheese is proclaimed the winner in the Best Artisan food category, Tom rushes up to accept it – and to promote his own products. Unfortunately he is interrupted by the return of Helen, who cuts his interminable spiel short with her own acceptance speech.
- Matt accosts Justin and Lilian, prepared to make more trouble, but Justin is more than a match for Matt. He thanks Matt profusely for the puppy which they both adore; it was so thoughtful of Matt. A confused Matt beats a hasty retreat.
