Tony puts his foot in it and Helen prepares to leave.
Radio Times: Tony struggles to keep his temper. Meanwhile, Tom makes unwise assumptions.
Characters: Helen, Henry, Kirsty, Pat, Rob, Tom, Tony- There’s a visitor expected at Bridge Farm: Rob is coming for tea. The welcome that awaits him is not the warmest. Smile Tony – for Helen’s sake.
- Tom and Kirsty are out foiling the piggy escape committee by mending fences. (Tony might try that!) Tom’s enthusiasm for a marquee wedding reception seems to be cooling as the guest list grows. He’s even talking about a local stately home, Catheridge Hall.
- Indoors the conversation is stilted and when Rob sings Peggy’s praises, so open-minded and generous, Tony storms off. He does not wish to discuss his mother with Rob. More tea?
- When Tom suggests looking at the site for their house he doesn’t get quite the response he was expecting. Kirsty is not ready to accept stepping into a plan that, everyone knows, was designed for Brenda. She will look at the site – some other time.
- When Rob has gone, it’s Helen’s turn to explode. She just expected her parents to be polite and friendly for an hour. Rob will never darken their doors again – and neither will she. Go for it, her gran had said. She had hoped to get her parents on-side first but they have made her choose; she chooses Rob. She and Henry will be moving to Blossom Hill Cottage as soon as possible where Henry will be brought up in a happy, loving environment – not stuck here with her parents.
