  • Having been invited to tea by Lilian, and to take the children, Helen is not in a good mood. She has no intention of playing Happy Families. her mood darkens when Tom asks for room on her stall at the Food and Drink Awards; she snaps at him, claiming that she needs all the room. A childish squabble ensues, but is put to a stop by Tony, who reminds Tom that they are off to look at some Aberdeen Angus cattle.
  • En route for the cattle farm, Tom bores on relentlessly about fermented foods, until Tony is forced to tell him to stop. Luckily they arrive before more can be said, and Tony is enraptured by the beautiful beasts.
  • Jill has made lots of flapjacks for the pop-up café, and greatly enjoys helping there with Kirsty. she reminisces about her first meeting with Phil on that very spot. Jill never imagined that she would become a farmer’s wife for years! But when Kirsty breaks the news that the café will have to find new premises because the owners of the store want them out, Jill is upset; it does so much good.
  • When Tom returns from the cattle-buying, he and Helen continue to bicker, not only about the stall, but about the use of Justin’s money. Both of them think their pet project is the most deserving. Tony orders them to stop and for once, to think of other people. He, Pat and Johnny might like a share of it too. The childish duo admit that they were wrong and apologise.
  • When Kirsty stops at the village shop for some comfort food after hearing the bad news about the café, she meets Lilian, and is somewhat outspoken about Justin’s plans to build in Ambridge. When she mentions Matt, too, Lilian erupts in anger.
  • Lilian goes straight to Bridge Farm, accusing the family of having it in for Justin; it was a business deal fair and square. She loves her family dearly, but she is marrying Justin and they had better get used to it.
