Tony wins the BAFTA for miserable old git on his birthday. Helen fails to mention Jess’s visit to Rob.
Radio Times: It is Tony’s birthday, and Helen has a lot on her mind.
Characters: Helen, Henry, Jolene, Kenton, Kirsty, Pat, Rob, Tony- Helen hasn’t quite round to raising Jess’s visit Rob but he is still playing happy families with Henry and takes a photo. Helen has clearly been avoiding him. Henry has Rob’s phone to see the photo but as soon as Helen asks for it, Rob appears and takes it away “in case work calls”.
- Jolene has an idea that she could give her costumes away to FLOSS for their production of Annie Get Your Gun. She’ll have to get them back up from the basement. Kenton is thinking about expanding the business by offering The Bull Upstairs to the WI for aerobics but Jolene doesn’t think they will drink as much as darts players.
- Tony is determined to make his birthday a miserable as possible. Tom comments he noticed Helen’s new watch but Helen says she isn’t wearing it today. Rob wants to find out why. She says she forgot. Kenton tries to cheer things up but with little success. Jolene goes to find Helen in the loo to see if she can help things along but makes things worse by saying how important trust is in a relationship. Tony tells Kenton he is keeping a clear head because he has a lot of research to do once he gets home.
- Later, Rob insists Helen puts her watch back on – she must not leave it around in future. Helen begins to try to talk to him but Henry intervenes.
