Will worries about the first BL shoot and Roy begs Brian for advice on healing his family.
Radio Times: Roy’s patience reaches its limit, and Joe flirts with Carol.
Characters: Brian, Carol, Eddie, Jennifer, Joe, Roy, William- Jennifer and Brian discuss how enraged Kate was when she was informed about Roy’s affair with Elizabeth. Pots and kettles. Jennifer and Brian have a difference of opinion about how long Phoebe should continue to stay with them. Brian suddenly begs off attending Apple Day with Jennifer. Whatever he has in mind, Jennifer warns Brian, leave John’s books alone.
- Joe wants Will to ask about Elizabeth and Roy. He is determined to know the whole story. Will’s mind is on the upcoming shoot which is the first one with BL in charge. Eddie arrives with cider and Joe, gossip forgotten, hurries off to get his own glass.
- Will continues to fret about how Justin Eliott has insisted on extra birds because his city friends are coming for a shoot. The short term result is that many of the birds end up as road kill and the locals are complaining.
- Brian’s secret mission turns out to be a visit to Roy who is on chicken duty. Brian tries to encourage an emotional Roy to buck up; he and Hayley have built a lot together. Roy reveals that he truly is residing in the slough of despond when he begs Brian for advice on how to resolve this mess.
- Jennifer thanks Carol for saving her from Joe’s prying. Carol moves the conversation on by inquiring about John’s books. John would get a passionate obsession with something and then move on, Carol notes mysteriously. Jennifer is bemused. Carol wanders away without explaining and Jennifer grabs Will to ask about the numbers to be fed at the shoot. Will is vague and tells Jennifer he will meet with her later. Oddly, Eddie wants to know if Will has any souvenirs from the Mexican honeymoon. Why? A very mysterious Eddie refuses to answer directly. Meanwhile, Joe is trying to convince Carol that the cider his club produces is the best available. Carol asks to try it and ends up accepting ‘a tipple in the shed.’ How can a girl refuse?
- Roy is distraught and asks an uncomfortable Brian for advice. Roy begins to sniffle as he notes he raised Phoebe alone when Kate abandoned her; now he feels a failure and is so ashamed. Brian counsels Roy to give it time. Roy continues to moan about how his betrayal has hurt everyone. Perhaps Brian has had enough of the glimpse into his own past and he clearly wants to escape. Brian again suggests that time will heal the wounds.
