Yet more of Adam’s plans meet with resistance from Brian; Rex’s plans seem to be going nowhere too.

Radio Times: Life in Ambridge (not much of a spoiler!)

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Brian and Adam are dealing with the ewes. Adam turns down Brian’s offer of his ticket to tonight’s wine tasting at Grey Gables. Adam mentions his idea of producing later season rather than early lambs, saving on concentrate feedstuff and finishing them on grass. Brian’s not at all happy with the idea. It will mean losing the “early” premium, an income that the farm has always taken for granted
  • Pip meets Rex in Borchester while shopping for a gift for Heather. He invites her out for a drink later to discuss some developments. It conflicts with her plans for her night out, but he pleads for the chance to buy her a drink before she sets off.
  • Carol is in her garden with Jill discussing which type of herbal plants the bees seem to prefer. Jill wonders if Carol could persuade Bert to do some work at The Bungalow’s garden. They agree that he just doesn’t seem to be able to plan for the future. They talk of Elizabeth’s plans to stage an opera and the Ambridge fete at Lower Loxley. Carol almost manages Jill to agree to go to the Grey Gables wine event.
  • Pip discovers that Rex has had absolutely no luck in finding land to raise his poultry. He’s just running out of time and Toby has announced his plans to take a summer job in a Newquay surf shop. Pip is clearly disappointed that they seem to have given up on their venture.
  • At Grey Gables, Carol is convinced that Jill has had four, possibly five glasses of wine. Brian turns up with the message that Elizabeth is ready to give Jill a lift home. A slightly “merry” Jill announces how much she has enjoyed the evening. Adam turns up and tries to engage Brian in conversation, but has to put up with arch comments in return. He’s not yet in Brian’s good books.
  • At Brookfield, Pip and Jill meet over the kitchen tap, trying to slake their thirsts. David is asleep in a chair. Pip’s night has been enjoyable, marred a little by comments about her successful interview being the result of coming from a farming family. Jill will not hear of it. She got the job on her own merits. They go to awaken David, with Pip promising to help by doing the morning milking.
