Characters: David, Jill, Lizzie, Nelson, Nigel, Phil, Shula
- Nelson is acclimatising to the new situation, thanks to a loud condemnation of Jazz, Helen made a tape for Nelson – including some Pulp, which Shula recognised. He starts to object, replacing it with Vivaldi, which starts to wear after a while, eventually rejoicing in the sound of silence.
- Jennifer’s having a birthday lunch at Brookfield and everyone is deserting her, only Alice got her a card and others are dropping out of the lunch at a rate of knots.
- Simon met with David, he wanted to know if Grange Farm’s 110 acres could be incorporated into the rest of the estate land easily. Practically, yes, but David felt very bad about even talking about the subject.
- When Shula found out that Simon had been around she was livid because he’d been avoiding her for days. Her news for him was that dry rot had been found in one of the business units – for which he blamed her for hiring an incompetent surveyor!
