Characters: Betty, Clarrie, David, Jennifer, Lizzie, Ruth, Usha
- The ministry vet is back at Brookfield for the next checkup and they’ll be on tenterhooks until the results return – they’re due on Friday. Ruth’s decided that if it’s bad news she will post her application form. David’s still not convinced about her consulting but Lizzie advises that he must support her in her decision.
- Lizzie bumps into Usha and Ruth in the Christmas-shopping inspired bedlam that is Underwoods. She seems a little surprised to discover that Ruth is going Salsa dancing on Thursday rather than to Shula’s hen night – Usha is taken aback too, but Ruth is sure that that’s what she’d rather be doing.
- Apparently English Heritage say that Lower Loxley is worth too much to qualify for financial help – despite being a Grade II listed building. Lizzie is still hoping that someone somewhere might be able to give them a grant to help.
- Black clouds on Phoebe’s horizon as both Grandmothers seem to expect her presence on Christmas Day.
- Jennifer and Clarrie uncover the Great Embroidered Cushion Deception and Clarrie promises her a refund, and they also promise to try and help Pat to enjoy Christmas more than it appears that she’s going to.
