Characters: Eddie, George, Jack, Janet, Jennifer, Kate, Marjorie
- In one of those twists the script-writers throw us occasionally, the unlikely combination of George and Mrs Antrobus both, independently, find themselves at Grange Farm. Mrs A to ask Joe to be Santa at the Victorian Christmas Fayre next week (he refuses), George to pass on some news to Eddie: It seems that a keeper over Waterley Cross way has a possible name connected to some recent poaching troubles – Terry Fielding. It means nothing to Eddie, but it does ring bells with Marjorie.
- Kate and Jennifer talk, initially in angry tones as Kate expresses her disappointment that Jennifer is still even considering termination, after all it’s her grandchild. A phrase which hits home, eventually spawning an apology as Jennifer admits that it’s about her fear of being a grandmother as much as worry for Kate. They hug and make up, although they’ll put off talking to Brian until after Christmas!
- George admits to Jack that, while he’s happy to be back at work, an extra pair of hands would be useful.
- Eddie’s keen to jog Marjorie’s memory and, he bumps into her outside the shop, she insists on them asking Sharon if the name means anything to her. Although it does nothing at the time, Sharon mentions that she thinks that he might be an old friend of Clive’s. Later Marjorie is very distressed as she visits Jack to discuss arrangements for the fayre. She’s remembered where she knows the name from. When she was burgled a few months ago, she saw one of the intruders and recognised him from an incident with Clive at a village fair from a few years before – that was Terry Fielding ….
