Characters: Brian, Hayley, Jennifer, Jill, Kate, Kenton, Phil
- Phil and Jill are livid. A weekend of no contact with Kenton has left them stewing in their own juices, very tender to the touch and ready to explode at his (delayed) arrival home from London.
- Brian and Kate, at least face to face, are getting on splendidly. He’s taken her to Borchester General for a scan – no problems and everything’s going fine – she admits that last week’s scare did frighten her, but, at least to Jennifer, Brian is still not getting carried away, thinking that she’s still an irresponsible fool.
- Kenton returns to his welcoming committee, genuinely surprised that his parents knew and defensive when they present their knowledge. It seems that, while his marriage to Mel (which is three and a half years old) was originally one of convenience to allow him to stay in Australia, he claims that they have found eternal love. Similarly, he claims that the tax problems relate to a couple of years ago and that the business is much healthier now. His parents are distinctly sceptical and don’t really believe his story.
