Characters: Betty, Brian, Debbie, Jennifer, Kathy, Mike, Pat
- Brian’s investigating buying some of the estate land – if the properties that aren’t sold individually (Bridge and Grange Farms, for example) are split into lots. He wants to hide this from Debbie, for the moment. She’s feeling delicate after a heavy night with the shearers following the single wicket competition (which Richard won).
- Betty’s very jumpy at the thought of Clive’s imminent re-appearence and Brian’s not keen on him being around to worry Debbie.
- The Bull and The Cat are still at loggerheads, Kathy’s Oak Apple Day celebrations will clash with the Cat’s Sixties’ Night and, to make matters worse, Owen has handed in his notice at The Bull – to go and work at The Cat.
- Pat’s still set on opposing Tony’s plan to buy the place, still saying that expansion not buying is the key. Jennifer suggests they approach Peggy and do both, but that idea isn’t met with anything like enthusiasm. Buying is “sheer romantic nonsense”, and she promises to expanding with or without him.
- Work has started on Grange Farm’s new milking parlour.
