David finds that age is not on his side. Kenton finds himself. Helen finds comfort in Kirsty.

Radio Times: The boys go out – Kenton Style.

Characters: Christopher, David, Helen, Jazzer, Kenton, Kirsty, Susan

• Kenton rallies the troops for his boys’ night out. David doesn’t seem to share Kenton’s enthusiasm, not least because he’s got an early start tomorrow.
• Christopher’s included in the night out, to Susan’s dismay. She tries to pin Christopher down to making arrangements for his 21st, but he’s adamant that he wants to spend in Southampton with Alice. To keep Susan quiet, he agrees to a quiet family lunch.
• Kirsty asks Helen if she’s found anyone to take over from Colin. She wonders about Annette, but Helen reminds her of Annette’s lack of success in the shop. Helen is worried about Annette’s relationship with Jazzer, and Kirsty can see why.
• The boys get the first round in, and Kenton tells them it’s a night of infinite possibilities. All David can do is moan about the beer and the way the pub’s been modernised. They discuss Mike’s new romance, though Christopher claims it makes him feel sick to think of someone as old as Mike having sex.
• Kirsty and Helen are also out for a drink, and are in the midst of tearing Jazzer’s reputation to shreds when he walks in. He tries his usual chat-up line, but gets a very frosty reception from Helen, who warns him about letting Annette down. He reminds Helen that Annette is over 18.
• David keeps the conversation sparkling by giving the boys a blow-by-blow account of Pip’s exams. When he sees Kirsty and Helen, he’s greatly relieved to be offered a lift back to Ambridge. Kenton, meanwhile, has found his true path in life; he wants to run a bar.
