Alice is unfulfilled. Susan is puzzled about Clive. Emma is relieved to be on good terms with Tracy again.
Radio Times: Alice has the New Year blues. Meanwhile, Emma receives an unlikely visitor.
Characters: Alice, Emma, Jennifer, Nic, Susan, William- Emma and Susan open the windows to hear the church bells usher in the New Year. Emma hopes this will be a better year than the last one.
- On their first anniversary, Will lets Nic sleep in while he gets breakfast for the children. He will be taking her to Grey Gables tonight to celebrate. Later they enjoy their meal, and Nic tells him it has been the best year of her life.
- Alice is not in a good mood. She is bored by her job, and all her friends from university seem to be enjoying interesting, well-paid employment. She and Chris spent New Year’s Eve with the Carters, but all Alice wanted to do was go home to bed. Since Chris is not around, she offers to go with her mother to take Peggy to visit Jack, since it is their anniversary, too.
- While Susan is out, Tracy calls on Emma. She reveals that she was the one responsible for Clive’s arrest because he threatened her and Donna. But she has apologised to Emma over her reaction to Keith’s arrest. Susan wonders why Clive was in Ambridge at all. It seems that Tracy is remaining tight-lipped over that one.
