Vicky is concerned about Bethany. Ruth is concerned about Pip.
Radio Times: Lynda is agog with the news. Meanwhile, Pip is causing concern.
Characters: Brenda, David, Lynda, Mike, Ruth, Vicky- Oozing condescension, Lynda gives Ruth the news of Bethany’s arrival. Lynda was, of course, one of the first to be phoned by Mike.
- Mike is completely besotted by his new daughter, but Vicky is worried that she is very sleepy and not feeding well. Mike admits that he took little notice of Roy or Brenda when they were born, but things will be different this time. Both he and Vicky are grateful for Brenda’s support; they are a real family now.
- A hungry David tells Ruth, through a toasted sandwich, that Ed was looking for her. He needs to ask advice after getting a straight refusal from Mike to pay more for milk. Ruth is not sure that Ed has many other options, and David thinks he picked the wrong moment to speak to Mike.
- Lynda arrives to admire baby Bethany, and Vicky confides her anxieties to her. Vicky’ mother and step-father will be visiting later, as well as Brenda and Tom.
- Ruth is worried about Pip. She is out until late, not getting up for her university commitments and is behind with her work. She has made new friends on the ski-trip and spending time on Facebook chatting to them. David is characteristically unpleasant about the new friends and their supposedly wealthy parents. They are giving Pip ideas.
- An exuberant Mike rings David; he wants to wet Bethany’s head at The Bull tomorrow. Joe and Bert will miss the occasion, as they are staying on in Liverpool.
