  • Mike and Vicky find it hard to rouse themselves when Bethany wakes for a feed, but Mike gets up and administers milk via a syringe, as he proudly relates to Brenda later. Brenda is concerned when she sees Bethany lying on her front, being shown pictures and crying; Vicky explains that it is to encourage visual learning and to help her hold her head back. Brenda seems unconvinced, but is amazed when Mike demonstrates nappy-changing.
  • It looks to Ed as though the sheep-shearing idea may come to nothing, because Jazzer has been turned down for a grant, but Jazzer has other ideas; he has been saving for a holiday, but will use the money for the course instead. He regards it as an investment; sheep-shearers have increased pulling power. Meanwhile he wants to call themselves the Cutty Sark. Ed has no idea what this is, so misses the point, but is pleased that Jazzer is still up for the idea.
  • When a hungry Brenda gets home she is furious to find that Tom has nothing about getting a meal for them, and more furious when he fails to listen to her account of Mike’s parenting skills. She tells him they are going to The Bull for pancakes.
  • Jazzer is already at The Bull, and hears that Fallon’s job as manager of Jaxx has been confirmed. Even though he is not pleased it looks as though Kenton and Jolene will be. Jazzer has come up with another name for the shearing team: the Dreadnoughts, but again the point is missed. When no-one will take their order, Brenda’s mood darkens further. At least Jazzer has not forgotten that he is doing extra hours to cover Pat and Tony’s holiday.
