  • Lizzie, sounding hugely gracious, shows a fine art dealer the items she intends to sell to raise money for the Lower Loxley improvements. He is not over-impressed, and his valuation is rather lower than she anticipated. The two items he does value highly are not for sale; Nigel would have wanted Freddie to have them as the heir to Lower Loxley.
  • As Brookfield gets lambing under way, Pip breezes in with the news that she and Spencer are off to Amsterdam to celebrate her birthday. Her parents are not pleased; they have booked a table at The Bull and could do with some help around the farm, apart from the fact that Pip is supposed to be studying and has agreed to help Tom while Pat and Tony are away. Pip brushes their objections aside and flounces off.
  • Freddie enjoys another coaching session with Ifty, who has made something of a hit with the heir to the Pargetter estate. When Ifty mentions that he is going on a school trip to a local adventure Park, Freddie has an idea.
  • Ifty stays for coffee with Lizzie and they discuss Valentine’s day. For Lizzie it brings back memories of Nigel’s romantic gestures. She is surprised to learn that Ifty and Kirsty are no longer an item, though Ifty is not unduly upset about it. He is enjoying the search for a soulmate.
  • Pip phones Tom to inform him that she will not, after all, be able to help with the milking. The attractions of Amsterdam are rather greater than those of Bridge Farm on a cold morning.
  • When Ifty leaves, Freddie asks his mother if they could go to the adventure park at half term. If she can get Roy to cover for her it will be a nice treat for half term. And who knows who she might encounter there?
