The Ambridge males celebrate Kenton’s last days of freedom. Emma tells Lynda her troubles.
Radio Times: Jim is full of surprises, and Emma is at her wits’ end.
Characters: David, Emma, Jamie, Jazzer, Jim, Kenton, Lynda, Shula- On his way to join the preliminaries to Kenton’s stag might, Jim calls at the stables to bring a book for Alistair but just as he starts to voice his concerns to Shula over Jill’s driving, he is interrupted by the arrival of David with some hay.
- Jamie has organised extreme quad biking for the stag-nighters, which is greatly enjoyed by all, even Jim. Afterwards they head off for beer, and David produces one of Kenton’s school reports, and reads edited highlights. It seems that Kenton has changed little since then, but all agree that his choice of wife will bear out the comment that ‘with the right company, Kenton blossoms.’
- Lynda has agreed to help Emma try out some of the recipes for her book, and has even bought the ingredients, to Emma’s relief. They decide against the more exotic contributions and get started on some ginger scones. Emma pours out her heart to Lynda, who responds with a characteristic mixture of sympathy and good sense, but Emma is very low in spirits; she and Ed so want their own place again, but life seems to keep kicking them in the teeth. If they lose any more cows it will be the end of the business.
