Rob calls on Helen and is well received. Darrell calls on Rosa and is not.

Radio Times: Rosa speaks her mind, and Eddie is a good neighbour.

Characters: Darrell, Eddie, Helen, Rob, Rosa, Susan

• Though he can’t budge Darrell out of the cider hut, which is paradise to him compared to Heydon Wood, Eddie is keeping him fed and warm. It’s worrying that he just wants to stay there; if he comes out he says he will spoil things and someone will get hurt. Eddie wants him to help deliver the turkeys and he is not taking ‘no’ for an answer.
• It’s the morning after the party and in the village shop Susan has already got the gossip that there was quite a scene at the end: Jess stormed upstairs in tears. Susan reckons Jess is a cold fish, whereas Rob is so lovely! Helen has heard enough. The next customer is Rosa, who has little to say when Susan brings up the subject of her dad and his ‘spot of bother’ with the police.
• Meanwhile, Darrell is beginning to enjoy himself; it’s simple work but involves interacting with people. To build his confidence Eddie makes a point of declaring his achievement a job well done. As they are passing Grange Farm, Eddie suggests calling on Rosa. Darrell is not keen but is persuaded to give it a try.
• Rob calls at Ambridge Organics to apologise and to offload unused food. Is it ok that he has come here today? Yes, it’s fine. He thanks Helen for being nice, which he says he doesn’t deserve. Had she been there, Kirsty would surely have seconded that!
• Darrell was right to be apprehensive. Rosa is hostile towards him for bringing shame on the family. He protests that she is still his daughter whether she like it or not. She responds sharply: whether he likes it or not, she wishes him dead.
