Hayley confronts the erstwhile lovers. Lynda resumes the fight.
Radio Times: Hayley has something to say, and Lynda brings some news.
Characters: David, Elizabeth, Hayley, Jim, Josh, Lynda, Roy- Josh prepares for his first driving lesson by driving on the farm with David. Afterwards he lends a hand with the calves, and David is impressed by his skills. Tomorrow there is to be (of course) a family tea to celebrate Josh’s birthday.
- Elizabeth is taken aback when Hayley accosts her after work and shows her the locket. Elizabeth is understandably flustered, and Hayley takes full advantage of this, demanding to know how long the affair had been going on. Weakly, Elizabeth apologises and admits it all started when she had too much to drink. Hayley tells her she always thought the world of Elizabeth, and trusted her. Now she is shattered, Roy is shattered and their world is shattered. Didn’t Elizabeth have enough without taking her husband too?
- In the shop, Lynda tells Jim about Leonie’s plans for Mungo’s naming ceremony. Lynda is choosing suitable highbrow readings, but thinks the name better suited to a border terrier. Then Robert rings with some worrying news.
- A dejected Roy comes home to find Hayley waiting. Phoebe is at a friends and Vicky is looking after Abbie. She shows him the locket and tells him about her conversation with Elizabeth. Weakly Roy tells her he had intended to tell Hayley about Elizabeth, and that he never meant to hurt her like this. Hayley storms at him: first Kate and then Elizabeth – apparently she is not good enough for him and she has always been second best. She has been stupid and trusting. Roy denies all this and claims he still loves her. He asks where they go from here. You tell me, Roy, replies Hayley, because I have no idea.
- Lynda hurries over to Brookfield. Robert’s contact at Borsetshire County Council has told him that route B looks like being the cheapest option. Lynda will not let Ambridge be sacrificed, however.
