David and Ruth are impressed with the traditional farm but don’t get a reduction in the price of the farm near Prudhoe.
Radio Times: Tom visits Roy. Meanwhile, Ruth and David are out and about.
Characters: David, Roy, Ruth, Tom- Ruth and David are visiting a conventional farm but Pip decides not to bother. As they are about to leave they get a message from the Prudhoe farm that they won’t reduce the price. They claim that the work they have done is suitable for a non-dairy herd.
- Roy is surprised to bump into Tom outside the village shop. They have a rather stilted conversation. They do arrange to meet up at Roy’s for a cup of tea.
- Tom reports that when he went into the Ambridge Organics shop, there was a delivery left on the floor. He moved it but the stockroom was in a worse mess. Tom wants her to sort it out but Helen says it isn’t really her problem anymore. They discuss Johnny and they both wonder if he is dyslexic. He might have been hiding it. Sharon was never very bright academically and she might have missed it.
- Ruth and David are very impressed with the traditional parlour. It reduces bullying in the herd and lameness and they particularly like the idea that it cleans itself. Discussing it afterwards, David is more impressed than Ruth. Pip wouldn’t be impressed.
- When Tom gets to Roy’s house it’s in a bit of a mess. He keeps wanting to sort himself out but can’t manage to do it. Tom says he knows how he feels. Roy talks about missing the children. It’s very hard. He tells Tom he desperately wants her back. He can’t imagine the future without her and the girls. He should just have told the truth. Tom agrees. That’s what he should have done too. But Tom tells him not to give up. When you hit rock bottom the only way is up.
