Displaced Ambridge residents find temporary homes. Eddie hadn’t paid his insurance premium.
Radio Times: Adam is disappointed, and Pat gets political.
Characters: Adam, Brian, Charlie, Clarrie, Ed, Eddie, Pat- Showing Brian round his devastated home evokes heartfelt sympathy for Adam’s plight. For the immediate future he and Ian will be staying in the staff flat at Grey Gables. He is more worried about the arable, so they go straight away to inspect. The wheat is not a pretty sight, much of it washed away along with tons of topsoil. It shouldn’t happen. Adam insists that they heed to look after the land better.
- No prizes for guessing which Ambridge resident failed to keep up his insurance premiums – Eddie of course. So while the rest of the villagers are preparing to buy new furniture, Eddie and Ed will be making Clarrie’s lovely kitchen table and sideboard ‘as good as new’, in the shed at Bridge Farm thanks to Pat. Jazzer is also staying at Bridge Farm, Ed and Emma are back at Ambridge View and Clarrie, Eddie and Joe are still at Grey Gables. The ferrets stay at Keeper’s Cottage, whether Joe like it or not.
- Adam calls to see how Charlie is doing; he says he doesn’t make a good patient but it is thanks to Adam that he is here at all. Adam suggests that Charlie has the Estate’s ditches checked and cleared, lest the finger of blame should point in BL’s direction. Charlie offers him the work but Adam declares himself too busy at Home Farm. Thanks but no thanks.
- Clarrie has discovered her precious photo album in a bad state. Pat is exercised that the authorities have done so little to help. With proper flood defences it should never have happened. Something has got to change and Pat seems in a mood to make that change happen.
