Christine considers moving into The Laurels.
Radio Times: There is a case for `Doctor Woolley’, and Tom is drawing up plans.
Characters: Christine, Clarrie, Eddie, Helen, Lilian, Peggy, Tom- Nearly 9 o’clock! Eddie should have been at work an hour ago but his late night drinking (and selling cheap beer and snacks) has taken its toll. Clarrie is unsympathetic.
- Helen’s prospective buyer for the shop has cried off. She is worried about Anja getting another job before they have sold it. Tom has an idea: use the old parlour for the new shop. They need to talk to mum and dad first but it might allow them to guarantee Anja a job, so that she doesn’t look elsewhere.
- Lilian has brought Peggy to The Laurels to share an evening meal with a friend. They are surprised to encounter Christine; she has been to have a look around because she is thinking of moving in. Peggy begins to probe her reasons but when Lilian threatens to whisk her away, she opts to go home with Christine. They need to talk further.
- When Eddie returns Clarrie is waiting for him. The chambermaid has been complaining about the mini-bar being full of party food so Eddie is forced to agree to get rid of it in the morning – to Tom’s pigs apparently. There he goes, making his own rules again.
- Christine explains to Peggy about her reluctance to return to Woodbine. It doesn’t feel like home any more. She feels lonely every day. Peggy understands but surely there are more appropriate options than The Laurels for someone as active as Christine.
- Lilian is dining at Grey Gables to avoid a visitor at Home Farm. She has already met Vince and knows all about the yarns Eddie has been spinning, so when Eddie comes in to eat she is well placed to pull his leg, though his secret is safe with her.
