Radio Times: David tries to cheer up Pip, and Rob and Henry have plenty of work to do on Mother’s Day.
Characters: David, Helen, Henry, Jill, Pip, Rob, Ruth, Ursula- Rob has pulled out all the stops for his mother and Helen on Mother’s Day. Helen doesn’t feel up to going out to The Bull for lunch, so arrangements are hastily rearranged, leaving Helen feeling wrong-footed, again.
- The Archer family are out to lunch and are enjoying some time away from work. The Bull is fully booked and Jill is pleased for Kenton. Pip is irritated by her phone playing up, which is thwarting messages between her and Matthew. David reassures her that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Things are a little fraught and Heather’s absence weighs heavily on Ruth, which Jill observes and offers comfort.
- Over lunch, Ursula plants seeds in Rob’s mind about her ‘worry’ over how Helen will cope when the baby is born. She and Rob’s father have spoken and would like Rob and Helen to consider sending Henry to the private preparatory school that Rob attended. Despite not understanding why he left Jess for Helen, Ursula and Rob’s father do want to be supportive to Rob’s new family and would contribute financially to school fees.
- The ‘Clean for the Queen’ litter pick is underway with the villagers turning out in force to muck in. As Ursula struggles to navigate Rob’s phone to take an action shot, David offers and says what a perfect family they look.
