The legal bills mount at Bridge Farm and tensions mount at Grange Farm.

• Peggy is spending the day at Bridge Farm where she is pleased to see how positive Emma is about the tearoom and allied enterprises. When Emma mentions that Alice is meeting Ed for advice, Peggy expresses surprise. Later she expresses pleasure at the way Helen has bonded with Jack after a shaky start.
• Maggie’s latest invoice has arrived, and Pat and Tony must face totting up the costs of all Helen’s legal work. To their horror it is over £30,000 and there will be the divorce to pay for as well. Tom comes in on a high; Alice’s company have offered to sponsor him, and two German farms have offered to let Tom see their set-up. Pat and Tony decide not to burst his bubble just yet. But is Tony regretting his Fordson purchase?
• Ed tells Alice that he finds the best way of getting work is word of mouth. If a farmer is happy with his work, they will tell others. Alice is unable to see how this might apply to her work, but wants to meet Ed again for a further talk.
• Ed returns to find Emma outside. She is clearly not happy that he is spending time with Alice, and when Ed mentions the next meeting, Emma lays it on the line; Ed needs to watch out. That woman is using him.
• Tony brings Pat a much-needed drink. Tony is reluctant to ask Peggy for a loan as she has been through so much. But they would have paid three times the bill to get Helen back, wouldn’t they?
