Characters: David, Graham, Jill, Lizzie, Neil, Phil, Tony
- Mike and Neil are picking up the peices after the storm, Mike’s hopeful of a reasonable recovery but Neil is playing the doom and gloom prophet to the full, threatening to scrap the whole PYO plans if it doesn’t go right (which, of course, is what he expects). Even Graham, who has experience of soft fruit, can’t convince Neil that the land wouldn’t be better with sows on it.
- David’s not happy with Graham, who refused to confirm or deny the rumour of an offer, telling him to contact the London agents. Graham also mentioned that the storm flattened a lot of the estate wheat, which could have been, indirectly, David’s fault. He doesn’t deny it but it doesn’t please him either.
- Lizzie’s not too keen on the prospect of playing Titania opposite Joe in the play and besides, they’ve a business to run and Nigel’s in it already. Jill wants Lizzie’s advice about the forthcoming village fair, but they’re not in the same market and the traditional bash the rat might be more the lot of the fair than the likes of hot air balloon rides, although Jill’s still sure that they might want the fancier stuff!
- While it’s not necessarily in the estate’s interest to make life difficult for them David is as sure as ever that they have to get an offer in and is growing increasingly fed up with Phil’s procrastination. Phil, though, is planning to talk to some people at the Royal show next week and any offer will have to wait.
