Characters: Betty, Jill, Kate, Peggy, Richard, Shula
- The shop as a three-handed enterprise is not going to work. Peggy notices that the window display is a little shabby so Kate takes this as her task for the day. A little time, some Feng Shui (the “ancient Chinese art of arranging stuff”), a twig, a small peice of cloth and a packet of cornflakes combine into Kate’s concept for the minimalist village shop. Only while she’s at lunch Peggy returns, hates it and asks Betty to reinstate the previous display. Kate objects and Betty refuses to play piggy in the middle, while Kate plans to complain to her grandmother over her stifled creativity.
- Daniel’s on the mend, although his physio is getting him down. Shula is worse though, as she discusses his future with Richard. The consultant suggests three scenarios, that he might never recover properly, that he will make progress but go through irregular periods of remission or that he might get over it completely. She’s grateful for everyone’s support, particularly Richard’s, and he asks her to promise to contact him while he’s away next week if she needs to.
