Will Ambridge merge
Radio Times: Will Ambridge merge
Characters: Bert, David, George, Jack, Ruth, Sean, Tony- Ruth’s starting to prepare for the speech she has to give at the National Farmers Union conference next week – having been putting it off while the crisis developed. She thinks that she will concentrate on why mixed farming traditionally offered protection but the current situation is unusual in having so many areas be depressed at once.
- Jack’s checking up on George’s preperation for next week’s shoot and get’s more than he bargained for when George tells him that last week’s shoot was exhausting at that maybe he’s getting too old for this caper – and he wants to retire at Christmas!
- Ruth’s worried about Jill’s thoughts towards the wedding, but David thinks it’s just because Ruth is Usha’s friend and has her own worried (which Ruth denies).
- Bert’s worried about his future at Brookfield, but it seems that he will be the last employee to go – something they’re not down to yet – although he doesn’t realise this.
- It’s the cricket club merger meeting and things are getting pretty steamed up. Sean’s very pro the merger, pointing out the lack of support and morale last season. Tony’s very anti, dragging up the “my grandad was a member” and “if the club goes, then next it’ll be the church, shop and pub” routine. David’s wavering. Jack, as chairman of the meeting calls the discussions to a close and calls for a vote ……
